Psychology for Trainers

Psychology for Trainers (code:AHPFTE)

We constantly use psychology in our training—most often spontaneously or intuitively. But a clear and explicit understanding of psychological principles and their application to training can transform our effectiveness and creativity. Psychology alone, the author cautions, cannot provide us with the ingredients for success; but its value as a people-centred approach, open to constant experimentation, modification and new ways of learning, makes it an essential tool in our portfolio of skills.

This excellent book, originally published by the CIPD, has been revised in 2009. Published as an ebook, it has 116 pages in A4 format, and book can be downloaded immediately as a pdf.

In terms of psychology, areas covered include NLP, Jung, Cattell's 16PF, Maslow, Herzberg, Rogers, Systems Thinking, Schutz, Bion, key concepts from psychoanalysis, counselling approaches, the Johari window, Freud, Transactional Analysis and learning theories - pretty much everything a trainer could want.

Each chapter includes sections on what works and does not work, issues for the trainer to consider and an 'in brief' summary.

The style is easy to read and the ebook is illustrated - this is an 'essential' for any trainer who does not already own this superb book.

"It's rare to come across a book that that provides practical ideas founded on intellectual rigour………...Psychology for Trainers is such a book.

It provides insights into the psychology that effects every aspect of training, with illustrations that can be immediately applied without over complicating the message.

A book that every trainer should read."
