Team Watcher
This is a PC based programme that allows anyone working with teams to accurately observe the behaviours of group members. Up to 12 behaviours can be observed, with a maximum of 8 group members.
Once the session has been set up, behaviours are simply recorded on a grid using mouse clicks. In addition the programme records the contribution time for each person.
At any time a graph can be displayed showing the behaviours used for both the whole group and individuals. These results can also be printed out.
If you rely on scribbled notes, or tick sheets, you can save a great amount of time here. The issues with the paper based approach are that it is difficult to give instant feedback and also there is no time element recorded.
This could be valuable information in many training, or even assessment situations, showing high and low contributors. The programme can also be used to record behaviours in role plays as well.
For example in a counseling interview, being able to precisely give information about the talk ratio could also be helpful.
